I also learned the top swivel has a white plastic liner between the bearing races and the foil to reduce friction when raising or dropping the sail… this white plastic liner was the primary suspect of what was wrong with mine. I learned that if there was a ball bearing problem, the plastic bits would probably be grey or beige, and looking at the new furlers on display at the boat show confirmed this. Fortunately, Schaefer is still very much in business, and I was able to talk with some of their reps at the Annapolis Sailboat Show only a few days later. It has worked great, needing almost zero maintenance… until noticing these white plastic bits. My 1996 Catalina 400 still has the original Schaefer System 3000 headsail furler that came with the boat 25 years ago. My Schaefer System 3000 Jib Furler has worked well for a long time. Earlier in the season I had noticed the jib was more difficult to furl than in previous years, so I figured something in the furler system needed attention. It took a while to figure out where the plastic bits were coming from, but eventually I figured it emanated from somewhere inside my furler’s top swivel. Broken bits of anything raining down from a part as important as a roller furler doesn’t make me feel very good, but at least I was removing the sail for the winter! Little bits of white plastic rained down on the foredeck and got stuck in my hair as I removed the jib from the furler. However, this surgical approach is associated with a facial scar in the hairline and risk of facial nerve palsy. The Gilles temporal approach has been a commonly used surgical technique for the reduction of zygomatic complex fractures. The surgical approach for adequate reduction of zygomatic complex fractures must provide maximum necessary exposure of the fractured segments, minimize the potential for injury to facial structures, and ensure a good functional and cosmetic result. Various surgical approaches and treatment strategies have been proposed to obtain successful treatment outcome, including the Gilles temporal approach, coronal, eyebrow, upper eyelid, transconjunctival, infraciliary lower eyelid, and intraoral vestibular approaches. Zygomatic complex fractures with no or minimal displacement are often treated without surgical intervention, whereas fractures with functional or esthetic impairments in the form of diplopia, extraocular muscle entrapment, malocclusion, restricted mouth opening and/or depression of the malar prominence often necessitate surgical intervention. The integrity of the zygomatic complex is fundamental in maintaining normal facial width and prominence of the cheek. Diagnosis of zygomatic complex fractures is usually clinical, with confirmation by computed tomography (CT) scan. The main clinical features of zygomatic complex fractures include diplopia, enophthalmos, subconjunctival ecchymosis, extraocular muscle entrapment, cosmetic deformity with depression of the malar eminence, facial widening, malocclusion and neurosensory disturbances of the infraorbital nerve. However, there is geographic and sociodemographic variation in the epidemiology of maxillofacial fractures due to socioeconomic, cultural and environmental factors. The etiology of zygomatic complex fractures primarily includes road traffic accidents, violent assaults, falls and sports injuries. Fracture of the zygomatic complex is one of the most common facial injuries in maxillofacial trauma and predominately appears in young adult males. The zygomatic complex is responsible for the protection of the orbital contents and the mid-facial contour. Subcutaneous emphysema may be present. The zygomatic bone defines the anterior and lateral projection of the face and articulates with the frontal, sphenoid, temporal, and maxillary bones. Injury to the infraorbital nerve may result in infraorbital paresthesia, and gaze disturbances may result from injury to orbital contents. Clinically, patients present with a flattened malar eminence and edema and ecchymosis to the area, with a palpable step-off on examination. More extensive trauma can result in the “tripod fracture,” which consists of fractures through three structures: 1) the frontozygomatic suture 2) the maxillary process of the zygoma including the inferior orbital floor, inferior orbital rim, and lateral wall of the maxillary sinus and 3) the zygomatic arch. These present clinically with pain on opening the mouth secondary to the insertion of the temporalis muscle at the arch or impingement on the coronoid process. Direct blows to the arch can result in isolated arch fractures. The arch forms the inferior and lateral orbit, and the body forms the malar eminence of the face. ![]() The zygoma bone has two major components, the zygomatic arch and the body. ![]() ![]() ![]() It offers a dark black and thus contrasts that no other technology can achieve. The top feature of the OLED panel is how it displays light gradations. That still looks razor-sharp for a 14-inch screen. Instead of 3840 × 2160 pixels, it has 2880 × 1800 - that is WQHD+ or 2.8K instead of 4K. I am thrilled, even though it does not have UHD resolution. I watched movies with Dolby Vision in a darkened room with the Yoga 9i during my Ticino vacation, which was pure enjoyment. Compared to Microsoft's Surface Pen, it feels a bit rougher with Lenovo's pen - which I like better. This makes the display feel similar to paper when drawing and writing. Geekbench 4 and 5, PC Mark 8 and 10 and PerformanceTest 10 DO suffer (making me think cinebench is the odd one out ) )Ĭinebench scales nicely to the power settings and is also way less affected by working on battery vs on charger, the others all are hit way harder on the battery vs charger thing and also aren't (or are hardly at most) affected by all the power setting changes. Will see if I can test some more with the slim7 this weekend.Ĭinebench is the only app that doesn't seem to suffer from it. Did try all kinds of tweaks and power settings to improve it, without luck. ![]() Perhaps with the others it just takes longer for the cpu to decide 'ok, lets ramp it up'. I think it might be something with how aggressively it boosts? Cinebench just measures max cpu continuously, the rest does more short task testing (real life so to say). Performance on battery was also lower then 'battery saver' settings on charger. With that I did tests with Cinebench R15 and R20, Geekbench 4 and 5, PerformanceTest10, PCMark8 and PCMark 10.Īll but Cinebench showed the same results, performance on battery being just about the same regardless of any power or battery settings (and lower then batterysaving mode on charger). (Changing the lenovo performance settings, windows power options, battery settings, customizing power controls manually). With that one I tried just about everything without luck. True, but with the baseclock being 1800 (4800u) vs 2900 (4800H) I thought that might make a difference.Īnd while I haven't extensively tested it with the slim7 yet (only got it yesterday afternoon) I experienced the same with the S540 (also a 4800u). ![]() ![]() I didn't want to leave my big yellow sub down in the depths so I decided to drive it back to my primary base near the shallows. I progressed through the game, built a one eyed submarine, ventured deep and did what had to be done. On the first occasion it was quite early in the game & I was scanning the area around the back of the Aurora for blueprints and such without submersible help when I saw a shadow pass over me, looked up and there it was in that murky water and I'm positive It was turning around to get me so I hightailed it outta there back to the pod. I finished the game in 50 hours and I only got to see them twice. Reapers are one of the main things that make this game tick for me. In my current playthrough I don't even have a stasis rifle. Especially if, like me, you prefer to coexist with your fishy neighbors on 4546B. There's just something fascinating about watching a predatory animal stalking it's prey (such as a cat stalking a bird or rodent).Įxploring the dunes feels really intense. If I'm feeling particularly ballsy I'll swim closer to them. I still watch them using camera drones sometimes. But then hearing her roar and seeing her swimming towards me, that solidified my anxiety about them. Just seeing the size of her tail, bigger than most of the predators I'd encountered up till then was intimidating. ![]() So I left the beach and entered the water and watched in fascination as her tail slipped into the darkness. ![]() But when he told me about Mabel, my curiosity got the better of me. They eventually became this phantom boogieman that he'd usually help me street clear of. But I remember him telling me stuff like, "you're heading towards a reaper, be careful" and stuff like that. My first playthrough was with a friend letting me play his game through share play. Whoever made the Reaper's noises should get a trophy because no other game has managed to make an enemy that sounds this terrifying. Every other leviathan lacks that "I am going to violate you with a burning chainsaw" vibe that the Reaper has. Only the Ghost Leviathan has a similar schtick, but I find their banshee screams a bit silly personally, and they certainly don't sound as aggressive. I have no clue how to describe it, but it rings the uncanny valley bells in my brain on top of just sounding so violent. It manages to sounds so fucking pissed, and I dunno why, but it sounds vaguely human-like, or something mimicking a human scream but way more animalistic. ![]() It actually took me a while to pick up what a Reaper sounds like, and that certainly had an effect on me. Getting chomped by a Chelicerate or a Sea Dragon isn't the same as getting chomped by something that looks like it has some form of intelligence the former is just animal behavior, the latter implies malevolence, even if it isn't really there.Īnd then there's the noises. If one looks at its ugly mug, you'll notice it actually has a somewhat human-like face, or something far closer to one compared to all the other leviathans. I think it's because the Reaper falls somewhat into the uncanny valley. But the Reaper? I always end up skedaddling when I get the first whiff of their presence. For every other Leviathan, I can confidently walk on by with little fear, sometimes even sticking around to watch them. But by my third playthrough, 40 hours in, I was actively dreading going anywhere near their prowling grounds, and listening for their distinctive roar was something I always did when exploring areas I haven't before. It's not like I had nothing but violent run-ins either, I've had plenty of times where a Reaper just didn't notice me or attack and I got away scot-free, and my Seamoth had only ever been grappled like, once. And originally, the Reaper was the same.except I got more scared of it as I played. I legit find the Ghost Leviathan weirdly pretty, the Sea Dragon is easy to avoid in both the Prawn and Cyclops, the Chelicerate is just sort of.there, and the Shadow Leviathan was more of an annoyance than a threat to me. This applies to the leviathans across both games, as after the original intimidation factor I start to view them less like sea monsters and more like really angry seafood. Don't know why I don't, maybe it's how easy the game is, maybe it's the fact I treat the animals in the game like, well, wild animals, and keeping my distance and not tarrying has proved to be the most effective means of dealing with them. My immediate reaction was "hey, come back! LET ME SCAN YOU!" When I got to the top, a huge ass face emerged from the depths and took a huge chunk of my health. ![]() I remember when I first came across the Reaper I was swimming around the grassy plateaus, I started to move up a large rock formation, closer to the Aurora. ![]() ![]() Lesson: 12: StakeholdersĪctivity: Class discussion about the PMI code of conduct Lesson 14: Exam Review & Mock Exam.
